Important notice for ticket purchasing
and some travel tips:
· All fares
are given in Syrian Pound "SP" and in
Euro "€". The approximate exchange rate
is*: 1,- € = 65,- SP.
· Train
tickets from Turkey, Iran and Irak to
Syria (Inbound) must be bought
unfortunately inside those countries.
Tickets from Syria to those countrie
(outbound) can be bought in Syria.
Don't forget your Passport and a VISA
for Syria.
· All passangers need a valid passport
if they buy their tickets, because train
seats and passengers are registerd by
name.
· domestic tickets can be bought and
booked 36 houres in advance. For
international trips it's possible to
book and buy tickets 1 week in advance.
·
Passangers leaving Syria
by train or bus have to pay 600 SP as a
leaving tax. You get tax stamps at the
train station in Aleppo or at the syrian
border.
· In each
Sleeping-Car you will find two Beds in
one
compartments.
It's possible to joing two
compartments
together to accomodate 4 Passengers.
Inaddion
passengers can book one
compartments
for them selfe if they bought the 2
tickets for the sleeping-car.
·
Buying tickets in the
train station of Aleppo is very easy. At
the right part of the train station
building in Aleppo you can find the
ticket counters for the
southbound destinations ( Hama, Homs,
Damascus), eastbound (Ar´Raqqa,
Deir-Ez-Zor & Al-Hasakeh and
Al-Qamishli) and the
international destinations.
At the left part of the train station
building in Aleppo you can buy the
tickets to the westbound destinations (Latakia
and Tartus).
·
After
buying ticket, please go the left part
of the train station building (next to
the westbound ticket counter), having
your passport and ticket, for
registration.
·
In
Damascus you can buy your ticket at the
Kadam train station (about 4 km
southwest of Damascus city centre)
or at the Hedjas station (city center).
·
In
Aleppo and Damascus
their is a shuttle bus between
train station <--> city center /
outskirts. Tickets can be bought in the
bus.
·
Homs has two train
stations. Homs 1 ( Homs main train
Station near city center) and Homs 2 (
Homs freight train station on the
outskirts).
· Train
delays are in
the middel east very common. Please
bring a lot of time and don't book
onward international train connections.
·
It helps if you bring
your own toilet paper as it may run out
in the trains.
·
Water and Tee can be
bought in the dining-car or at the
sleeping-car attendant.
Bring your own food as it's not assured
to find food on board the dining-car.
